Volunteer Head Quarters,

Victoria, Hong Kong, 27th January, 1900.

The Commandant,

HONGKONG VOLUNTEER CORPS.

From

Staff for

TO

The D.A.A.G. (a) and C.S.Officer,

China.

I have the honour to report for the information of His Excellency the General Officer Commanding that the Permanent Staff of this Corps, as laid down in Schedule 2; H.K.Vol. Regulations 1899, is in my opinion totally inadequate to cope with the large amount of additional labour caused by the increase of the Corps from 2 to 7 Units, and to allow of the ordinary routine work of the Corps being efficiently carried out.

From the Schedule referred to it will be seen that the paid Staff of the Corps is-

1 Adjutant and Quarter Master,

1 Corps Qr. Mr. Sergeant.

I would therefore respectfully urge for H.E. the G.O. Commanding favourable consideration and sanction of H.E. the Governor and C. in Chief that this Schedule may be amended to read as follows:-

1 Adjutant and Quarter Master,

1 Corps Sergeant Major,

1 Orderly Room Clerk.
